BAIZHUYUAN SITE

This page authored by Steve Kershaw

Location: On E side of Gaodingshan anticline in Huaying Mountains.   This site was described in detail by Kershaw et al. (1999) when the road cut which exposed the PTB was new. The site has degraded badly in recent years, and in April 2009 the microbialite was almost completely covered by vegetation.  underlying Changhsingian limestones, and the top of the microbialite were visible; however the microsphere beds and oncoid beds, plus several tens of metres of Feixianguan calcareous mudstones are exposed along the road section.
