A6: HUNGARY - Gerennavar Site

This page gives details of thin sections of laminated limestones from the Gerennavar site. The local succession consists of a sandstone overlain by boundary shales, followed by laminated limestones containing the microbialite. The sequence is made complicated by the common presence of bedding plane slip, so that it is difficult to demonstrate with clarity the nature of most bed contacts. Also stylolites are common, interrupting the fine detail of the succession.
